SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31

Recognizing the accomplishments of the Cabell Midland High School
Marching Knights as Class AAA Field and Parade champions and
its participation in the Toyota Gator Bowl.
Whereas, The Cabell Midland High School band had an
exceptional 1999 season, capturing the Class AAA Field and Parade
championships, as well as other awards and honors; and
Whereas, The Cabell Midland High School band, under the
direction of Rhonda Smalley and Lisa Ashworth, was selected Grand
Champions in the Hurricane High School Invitational Festival; the
Spring Valley High School Competition; the Guyan Valley High School
"Music Under the Stars" festival; the Clay County High School
Competition; and the Black Walnut Festival; and
Whereas, The outstanding field and parade ability of the
Cabell Midland Marching Knights earned the band the Class AAA Field
and Parade championships; and
Whereas, The outstanding field show and parade performances of
the Cabell Midland March Knights earned it the opportunity to
participate in the Toyota Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida;
therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate hereby recognizes the outstanding
accomplishments of the Cabell Midland High School Marching Knights,
which brought the title of Grand Champions to its campus, Cabell
County and the State of West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the participation of the Cabell Midland
Marching Knights in the Toyota Gator Bowl brought pride and
distinction to all West Virginians; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the Principal of Cabell Midland High
School and to Rhonda Smalley and Lisa Ashworth, directors of the of
the Cabell Midland Marching Knights.
